Spring/Summer 16 Trends

With winter just about winding down, fingers massively crossed, and the shops becoming much more cheerful – thank god, Spring 2016 is right around the sunny corner – phew I love the brightness and freshness of a new season and get a buzz when I hit Oxford Street. So here are the Spring/Summer 16 trends that seem to be the biggest influences for you to enjoy over the next months.

Nightwear is day wear

Silk flowing pj type pants have been around for winter but now everything silk, satin and sexy that you imagine that should be kept for the bedroom is smoking hot for day wear. Simple little silk camisole type dresses and underwear work as outerwear is a lead concept for the summer 16 look. I’ve always been a fan of the simple slip dress with a nice tailored jacket over it – the only problem is we don’t often get the weather to pull this one off! Fabulous look for your summer hols.

Stripe it

Strike with a graphic stripe in all shapes and sizes, horizontal vertical for night or day, the super stripe is a major influence this season. What I love about this one is we can all do it our own way as some sort of stripe suits everyone.

Off the shoulder necklines are always around for evening but this season the look has gone a step further with cut outs that highlight just the shoulder – nice! My shoulders are the one thing I never mind showing to the world so I’ll embrace this one with joy.

Ruffles and frills are just like our stripes this season they come once again in all sorts of sizes and add a flirtatious vibe to all sorts of garments. If a frill is your thing, then this is your chance to enjoy them once again this summer.shoulders

Shine onruffels

High shine fabrics are still very big for this season – in fact add a broken mirror to a garment or some rusched foil and you will be the height of fashion. Thank goodness when shine and sparkly garments filter down to our beloved high street it’s much more wearable. But shinny is cool for summer. I love this one as I’m attracted to anything shiny.shine

I don’t feel this one ever goes away but keeps reinventing itself each season – there is lace everywhere to be seen this season, always feminine and soft but certainly its upping the ante on being see through if you dare for summer 16!

Blown-Up Blooms

Flower power is certainly with us again – is it because we girls just love a flower and will not let this one die? Blooms however have gone oversized and powerful this season and they certainly light up the shop floors of the high street.

Sunset shades

Wow – this one adds the colour we need to make us feel sunshine happy. Lightness and brightness comes in fabulous sunset tones and citrus bright’s this season. So from sunshine yellow to fiery orange the newest hues to enjoy are all the ones when you imagine a powerful sunset – bliss.

Ok – a roundup of the other very strong trends are abstract geo prints which are still massive and don’t get too worried about how you mix them up as the madder the better as long as the scale is right for you and the print does not over power you. The “get noticed” leather jacket and the bomber are still going strong, and you can add a bow to anything once again to look current. Keep your rucksacks as that’s still incredibly useful and still on trend. The new spring IT bag is the one that comes in stripes or a bold print, not for the faint hearted. A chunky choker or a tiara is the accessory of the moment but shoulder length long earrings give those a run for their money – this stuff only looks amazing on the catwalk and for us on the odd fabulous night out, otherwise is just looks daft on the tube at 8.30 in the morning! Tie up anything is a hit with shoes – doesn’t matter whether they are flat or they have a heel as long as something ties up they’re cool.

I look forward to working with some of you very soon as for me it’s a nice fun season for shopping!
